One Killed, One Airlifted In Head-On Charles County Crash: State Police

One man was killed and a second airlifted to a Washington, DC hospital after a head-on crash in Charles County late on Sunday afternoon, state police say.

Claude Boushey, Jr, 30, of Welcome, was killed attempting to pass a driver on Route 255 when he was struck by a Dodge Challenger driven by Capitol Heights resident Donta McKay, 42, who was traveling in the opposite direction, investigators confirmed.

According to police, shortly before 5:15 p.m. on Sunday, April 2, Boushey was driving on the roadway near Bibury Lane when his Honda Accord entered an authorized passing area in an attempt to pass an unidentified vehicle, and crashed head-on into the Challenger.

Both vehicles then came to a rest in the westbound lanes following the crash.

Boushey was rushed by an ambulance to the University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center in La Plata, where he was later pronounced dead. McKay was airlifted to MedStar Washington Hospital in DC for treatment of undisclosed injuries.

McKay’s condition was not immediately available on Monday, April 3.

The crash remains under investigation.
